How to use the remove duplicates & sort lines

  1. Paste your list, with one item per line.
  2. Choose the clean-up options you want. Duplicates, empty lines and stray spaces are handled by default.
  3. Pick a sort order, then copy the result.

Handy uses

  • Merge two email or customer lists and remove repeats.
  • Clean up keywords copied from different tools.
  • Sort names, tags or file names alphabetically.
  • Strip blank lines from text pasted out of a PDF.

Natural sorting

Sorting is “natural”, so item 2 comes before item 10, just as a person would expect, instead of the strict character-by-character order many tools use.

Which copy is kept when there are duplicates?

The first one. Later repeats are removed.

Is there a size limit?

There’s no fixed limit. Lists with tens of thousands of lines work in modern browsers.
