Questions

How accurate is the text recognition?

Sharp, high-contrast printed text is usually read almost perfectly. Handwriting, unusual fonts, low-resolution photos and text on busy backgrounds cause mistakes, so check the result. Cropping to just the text helps.

Which engine does it use?

Tesseract, the open-source OCR engine, compiled to WebAssembly. The language data is downloaded from this site the first time (1–3 MB per language).

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device, so your files are never sent to a server.
