How to use the calorie calculator
- Choose your sex and units.
- Enter your age, weight and height.
- Choose the activity level that best fits a normal week.
How the estimate works
Your basal metabolic rate (BMR), the energy used at rest, is estimated with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation. It’s multiplied by an activity factor from 1.2 to 1.9 to estimate your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE): the calories that keep your weight stable.
An estimate, not advice
Real needs vary with body composition, health and genetics. The formula is for healthy adults and isn’t suitable during pregnancy. Talk to a doctor or dietitian before making big changes to how you eat.
