How to use the hours calculator (time card)
- Enter a start and end time for each day you worked. Leave other days blank.
- Add any unpaid break in minutes.
- Optionally enter your hourly rate to see your pay.
- Use the decimal hours (for example 37.5) when filling in payroll forms.
Hours and minutes vs. decimal hours
Timesheets often need decimal hours: 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.5 hours, and 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours. Divide the minutes by 60 to convert. The calculator shows both formats.
Overnight shifts
If an end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as running past midnight. A shift from 22:00 to 06:00 counts as 8 hours.
Examples
40h 00m a week (40 hours)
8h 00m (overnight)
